My schizophrenic wardrobe

I came across the blog of this great girl through a photo on Flickr. I think she is gorgeous and adorable - the amount of energy and invention that she has, and the way that seeing someone dressed like this cheers you up fantastically when you catch sight of them... it made me wish I was young again, or maybe that I had just been a bit bolder when I was her age.

It also sent me to look in my (schizophrenic) wardrobe.

Here are some of the clothes which I love.  They hang on the left and rarely see the light of day.

Below are the clothes that I wear every day.(there are more, too many more, like this.)

It's like I'm two different people. But one of them never comes out of the closet.

  1. Wear the left side. Wear it. You only live once. Do you want to be on your death bed, saying, "Gosh, I wish I'd worn the left side of the wardrobe"? No.

    Hop to it.

I love style blogs. The get my backside into gear, I think. Why else do I have all this magpie-hoarded shite if not to wear it? Every time I wear lipstick I think, "I should do this every day".

Anyway, here's the latest blog I found (via Rookie Mag): http://www.nadiaaboulhosn.com/

  2. Yes, yes it's true. I will! ( In my own defense, at the moment I am often surrounded by small children with hands covered in paint or playdough, or outside in a hailing gail while they play in the sandpit and the water tray, so I tend to wear boring things that are warm and not precious so I won't cry when they get covered in paint.)

I like this lady. She reminds me of the Man Repeller (who is actually a knockout.)

  3. This might be a typical male reaction, but I look at her and think: 'how can an outfit ever be worth that effort?'.

  4. Ah Miscommunicant, when is anything worth the effort when you get right down to it?

I know some men (and women to be fair) don't get the clothes thing. But if you're a very visual person then it always lifts the spirits.

  5. "Think of it as a hobby."

This makes sense, actually. My hobby is something that most of my friends think isn't worth the effort or the cost to my body. So that helps put it in perspective.

style wise I guess I'm quite conservative. I do like beautiful things, but tend to go for elegant and simple. No one has ever accused me of being overly colourful.
